How it works
Upon injection into the mid-to-deep dermis, the Restylane gel physically adds volume to the dermal tissue, immediately lifting and smoothing target wrinkles and folds. The hydrophilic properties of the hyaluronic acid molecules attract and bind water, which further enhances the volumizing effect and improves skin hydration. The cross-linked structure of the HA provides resistance to enzymatic degradation, allowing for a sustained clinical effect before the gel is gradually and naturally broken down.
Clinical indications
Restylane is indicated for implantation in the mid-to-deep dermis for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, most notably nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It is also indicated for lip augmentation in patients over 21. Its specific rheological properties—a firm gel with moderate lifting capacity—make it ideal for areas requiring structural definition and support. It is not intended for superficial line correction.
